Ice Fishing Derby

Last weekend was the Meredith Rotary Ice Fishing Derby in New Hampshire along with the Nor'easter Nemo. Me and my buddy headed up Friday afternoon and we were able to get a few lines out before sun down, but had no luck.

Saturday morning, we were up with the sun and had traps in first thing. It was snowing sideways, but fortunately it wasn't cold. We had a successful morning catching 2 lake trout and a salmon before the afternoon freeze. Once the weather cleared up, it got bitter cold. In order to hold out for the afternoon, we decided to make a snow fort to block the wind. To end our day, we added another 2 lakers and one more salmon, but nothing worth entering.

Sunday was a slow day on the ice. After the front moved through, fish weren't feeding as consistently as Saturday, but we managed to land 2 lakers and a small salmon. All-in-all, it was a successful weekend fishing and I was able to catch a couple lakers on my bucktail jigs that I tied. Check out some pictures below from the trip.
