Fly of the Week 4/18/2013: Serendipity

Going fly fishing this weekend? What to tie, what to tie... How about a Serendipity midge? If you need to load up that fly box of yours fast and with effective flies, the Serendipity will be key. These are great with a black, green, red, or orange body. Some people like to add in copper ribbing to make it look like a zebra midge up the hook shank with the deer or elk hair for the wing. You can tie them up with different length wings too. Mix it up because no two flies are ever identical.

Recipe:
  • Hook: Size 14, Scud Hook
  • Thread/Body: 6/0 Uni Thread Black
  • Wing: Deer or Elk Hair

Fish 'em hard.
