Hurricane Sandy Bill Passed by Senate

Yesterday, January 28, 2013, the Senate passed a $51 billion aid bill for everyone and everything that suffered as a result of Hurricane Sandy. The bill has been sent off to President Obama for his signature.

Despite lots of controversy and politics, this is a win for outdoorsmen! Here is what the fishing community will receive to help rebuild.:

  • Fish and Wildlife Service Construction: $49,875,000 for repairs to fish hatcheries and wildlife refuges.
  • National Park Service Construction: $234,000,000 for repairs to national parks, lands and facilities.

Keep America Fishing was urging people to use any means possible to persuade the Senate to pass this bill.

Not only am I glad that this will benefit the fishing community, that supports so many jobs and has a $6 billion impact, but I am glad that it will help people who suffered as a result of this awful natural disaster.
