Stop the ban on soft baits in Maine!

Maine legislation is seeking the ban of all "rubber"baits, but has failed to define the term. The bill was introduced on January 17, stating a potential ban on rubber lures in the state of Maine. These soft baits are used by anglers for all species and would not only effect what anglers use for fishing, but effect the fishing industry. The term "rubber" they use is very vague, but it is said to include baits anglers use every day and even biodegradable rubber baits.

According to keepamericafishing.com, there is no study stating negative effects of soft baits on fish. With the research in testing soft baits, it has become evident that the soft baits will be regurgitated or pass through their digestive system.

There is no saying how far this go, but could be the start of something that could sweep the nation. With Maine not clarifying their definition of "rubber"baits, this could potentially affect the fly fishing world with adding rubber to flies, like legs, tails, bodies, etc. Please help Maine, and potentially America, in voting against the ban on soft baits. Stop the ban here!
