Where to wet a line? Try the NH Meredith Rotary Ice Fishing Derby

Take Me #icefishing please!

Not many people look forward to sitting on ice for a weekend trying to find a needle in a haystack, but each year, I look forward to doing just that. This weekend is the annual Meredith Rotary Ice Fishing Derby. Anglers can fish any body of water in the state and enter fish in the following categories:

  • Rainbow Trout
  • Lake Trout
  • Cusk
  • Pickerel
  • White Perch
  • Yellow Perch
  • Black Crappie
At the end of each day, cash prizes will be given to those on the leader board. NH Fish and Game will be there to weigh and enter each fish making sure all entries are legal ~ NO LANDLOCKED SALMON! It is a good time, but while it is fun it is dangerous! Anglers need to make sure the ice is safe prior to heading out and drilling a few holes.

My ice fishing crew will be targeting Rainbows and Lake Trout this weekend. I would love nothing more than to get a nice 5+ lb. Lake Trout to hand.

If you are out on the ice, make sure you are safe!
